Some thougths about SEO

If you are developing web sites for fun and you have no real experience with them then probably you also do not have too much knowledge about SEO - search engine optimization. When I have started to implement some web sites using Grails I didn't even know that there is such thing like SEO. With the first site grails & groovy tutorials I had a luck and it was optimized good. But with second web site things to do with kids I didn't have such luck and it was optimized bad. Then I started to search what should I do to improve my rankings in google results. As it was new territory for me I needed to read some books and read about it on the Internet.

I am still not an expert but at least I know something. So if you want to jump really fast into SEO for the reason to at least reasonably improve your web site ranking I have decided to write a few simple posts I have so far.

IE8 and lot of div elements

If you are creating web site and want to display lot of data on the page that is created from number of divs then you can hit performance issues. To resolve them try to replace divs with the html tables.

As grails gave me excellent opportunity to create web applications fast and easy I have few of them. But just adding web site online is not enough. Very soon you find out that if you want visitors you need to educate yourself about SEO - search engine optimization. And now that is what I am doing currently.

If you are new to SEO very fast you will learn that there are no straight-forward instructions what you really need to do to have SEO friendly web site. There are lot of experts in the SEO but not all agree about everything. I am just reading some books as I want to improved my web site related to kids. Grails - fuzzy word or promising technology

If you have software development background you may already heard about grails. Grails is excellent web development framework and you should at least try it.

If you want to give a try to grails to huge number of resources you can find on grails tutorials.

But also you can use google as there are lot of posts about grails. And here you can find some book reviews about grails or software development.

And my first posting

My idea with this blog is more or less to write notes and thoughts randomly as they come into my mind. Beside my family - wife and son - software development also occupies big part of my everyday activities. So this blog will be more or less about that.
